LOVECRAFTIAN     TALES

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”

— H.P Lovecraft

SEASON 1 – LOVCRAFTIAN HORROR ACROSS ITALY

A bold reinterpretation of H. P. Lovecraft’s most iconic tales, Season 1 of LIMEN transposes cosmic horror into the haunting beauty of contemporary Italy. Each self-contained episode, lasting between 25 and 60 minutes, blends the timeless terror of Lovecraftian mythos with the dark charm of Italian folklore, legends, and landscapes. From the misty shores of Lake Trasimeno to the underground catacombs of Rome, from the forgotten villages of Abruzzo to the shadowy palaces of Florence, ancient fears awaken in places where history, superstition, and the unknowable collide.

Staying true to Lovecraft’s vision of unfathomable forces lurking just beyond perception, the series brings a uniquely Italian flavor to the genre—where ancestral horrors slumber beneath frescoes, in vaults, on mountain peaks, and in the still waters of remote lakes. Each story reveals a different layer of fear: not just the fear of the unknown, but the fear of what lies just beneath the surface of reality.

Get ready to explore Italy’s darkest side—where myth and madness intertwine, and the line between reason and insanity is dangerously thin.

Episode 1 – "The Terrible Old Man"

Location: Lake Trasimeno, Umbria
After a high-stakes heist, three fugitives take refuge in a crumbling lakeside village in Umbria. There, they encounter a frail old man who pays with ancient gold coins. Tempted by greed, they decide to rob him, unaware that his stilt house by the water hides a primordial and malevolent presence. As the night deepens, the village grows eerily silent, and something awakens beneath the moonlit lake. At dawn, all seems unchanged—except the old man, who sits once more at the bar, toying with a coin as if nothing ever happened.

Episode 2 – "Cool Air"

Location: Urbino, Marche
In the Renaissance town of Urbino, a young art restorer moves into an old palazzo to work on a fresco. She soon becomes intrigued by her neighbor: a reclusive doctor who lives in a room chilled to near-freezing temperatures. Her curiosity leads to a shocking discovery—he has prolonged his life through forbidden alchemical practices. When his cooling system fails, she faces a decomposing nightmare beyond comprehension.

Episode 3 – "The Statement of Randolph Carter"

Location: Rome, Lazio
While researching in Rome, a historian discovers a cryptic diary describing a terrifying descent into the catacombs beneath a basilica. Obsessed, he follows the clues into the labyrinthine tunnels. Echoes, whispers, and ancient markings guide him to a buried sacrificial chamber, where a slumbering entity worshipped by a long-forgotten cult begins to stir—aware now of his presence.

Episode 4 – "In the Vault"

Location: Abruzzo (mountain village)
In an isolated cemetery in the Abruzzo hinterland, a corrupt gravedigger profits from the dead—until he becomes trapped inside the ancient crypt of a noble family accused of witchcraft. As darkness closes in, tombs open one by one, revealing corpses that no longer rest peacefully... or silently.

Episode 5 – "The Thing on the Doorstep"

Location: Trento, Trentino Alto Adige
In Trento, a respected psychologist grows concerned over the strange behavior of his best friend’s wife. His investigation reveals a secret circle performing Etruscan soul-transfer rituals hidden beneath the city’s noble façades. As he’s drawn deeper, the boundaries between identity and possession dissolve, and he begins to fear that the entity inhabiting her body may not be the only one.

Episode 6 – "The Dunwich Horror"

Location: Tuscan-Emilian Apennines
In a remote Apennine village, a mutilated shepherd sparks rumors of ancient evils. A young anthropologist uncovers a reclusive family still practicing pagan rites to prehuman gods. Something has been summoned—something not meant to walk the earth—and it now roams the fog-covered mountains in search of blood.
